Immigration Symposium: Strengthening Communities and Higher Education
Friday, May 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Join R.I.S.E. (Rising Immigrant Scholars through Education), in collaboration with the Undocumented Students Working Group, the MultiCultural Center, OUDI, and sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, for a half-day symposium and learn how local leaders, advocates, and educators are working together to protect immigrant rights. The panel discussion will feature advocates who work closely with local immigrant communities and students, and will help shed light on the immigrant experience to strengthen our communities.A resource fair will follow the panel discussion and will showcase campus and community organizations serving immigrants on the Central Coast. The symposium also serves as a way to introduce Cal Poly’s newly opened Dream Center to the community.

12:30pm: Award Ceremony to Honor UndocuAllies in our community (180-101)

12:30-2pm: Resource Fair (Baker Lawn)

The event is free and open to the public. Metered parking is available in the H2 lot or parking passes available at the Grand avenue kiosk.

R.I.S.E. is a student-run organization at Cal Poly that seeks to help provide resources for undocumented students and to create a more inclusive environment.
