A Message from the Chair

Dear SLO County Democrats and friends:

In just a few short weeks, the MuskTrump regime has thrown the country into chaos, crisis, and doubt:

  • Can family members in elder care or under medical treatment continue to count on Medicaid for critical financial support?

  • Are student Pell grants on the chopping block?

  • Are Social Security and Medicare safe from the DOGE butchery?

  • How can we remain proud of our country when our president has abandoned our values and longstanding allies by siding with dictator Putin?

  • What can help us cope with and put an end to the madness?

  • How can we make a difference?

Your SLO County Democratic Party has a plan. Click here for more information on Project 2026.

Labor Notes: We're Not Gonna Take It!

Labor Unions Can Stop Trump!

Not everyone is taking this BS lying down. The AFL-CIO is leading a coalition of unions suing DOGE to stop them from gaining access to sensitive information about federal employees and the many on-going investigations into the illegal activities of Musk’s and Bezos' companies. And they’ve launched a counter-campaign with the delightful name of “The Department of People Who Work for a Living” to fight back against DOGE and help ensure that the federal government works for everyone, not just billionaires like Musk and Bezos.

Stand Up, Fight Back

Here's a giant THANK YOU to all the volunteers who've been keeping our SLOCDP Headquarters open, welcoming visitors, answering phone calls, responding to questions, and so much more.

We still need to fill around 10 shifts to reach our goal of keeping the HQ open from 11:30 a.m. thru 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If you want to do something to help thwart Maga, please visit our calendar booking tool to sign up for a spot: HQ Volunteer Shifts

We need 2 volunteers per shift starting next week, so check both A and B shifts for a time slot that works for you. No experience is needed--if you are a new volunteer we will meet you at your shift for training.

HQ volunteers are asked to:

1. Answer the phone and greet visitors.

2. Do your best to answer questions and connect people to the right resources.

3. Check the phone messages and respond as appropriate.

4. Complete other specific volunteer tasks assigned by team leaders.

Thank you all for getting involved! It is of huge value to have the office open as a resource to the community in these trying times.
