NDTCC So You Want to Run for Office: Black History Month Edition

Building Black political power is essential in creating a democracy that represents all Americans. That all begins by doing what we can to build a pipeline of Black candidates and working to close the gap of Black representation in American politics.

That’s why we’re excited to host a special edition of our So You Want to Run for Office Training intended for Black prospective or early stage candidates. While the past few election cycles have seen historic strides among Black elected leaders, this is just the beginning.

From school board to your state’s general assembly, you can make a difference in your community by running for office.  Our expert trainer will walk you through the ins and outs of making the decision to run for office. No prior experience required!

You will learn the following in this training:

  • Understand the steps necessary to run for office

  • Explain best practices for choosing which office to run for

  • Identify what support you’ll need from your team

  • Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family

Please note that each “So You Want to Run for Office?” training is limited capacity to increase opportunities for discussion and participation. If this session is full or doesn’t fit your schedule, you can find a list of upcoming sessions HERE.
