The environmental group Center for Biological Diversity has sued California regulators for supporting plans to more than triple the area into which highly contaminated oil wastewater can be injected into an aquifer beneath the Price Canyon oilfield.
Some races still remain undecided.
The Central Coast was thrust into the national spotlight in May as news broke of an oil pipeline rupture that allowed tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil to spill into the Pacific Ocean. The spill adds to the worries of the community concerned about the rail spur that will bring 5 trains carrying tar sands oil through SLO County.
